The old Turkish Fortress on the edge of the main square in Novi Pazar.
A view over the skyline of Novi Pazar, replete with minarets.
A view down past the bazars towards the Altum Alem mosque in Novi Pazar.
The church of Saint Peter, on the edge of Novi Pazar. This church dates form the eighth century.
The monastery at Sopoćani, behind a fragment of the remaining walls.
A fresco of Our Lord in the monastery at Sopoćani. This painting, above the exterior of the door to the nave, dates from 1265.
The Ibar valley, down which you travel to get to Sopoćani.
Some of the remains of the ancient Serbian capital of Stari Ras.
Another two pictures of parts of the ruins of Stari Ras. There's not much to see beyond these ruined walls, and the inclusion of the site on UNESCO's World Heritage list is aimed more at archaeologists and historians than at tourists. The right-hand picture has been taken from the world wide web, and shows the top of the hill, above the road.
